Tensions along Israel’s northern border escalated Tuesday after Hezbollah launched a barrage of rockets toward IDF forces operating in southern Lebanon, in what Israeli officials described as a clear violation of the ceasefire.

The rockets were fired at troops positioned south of the forward defense line in the Rab al-Thalathin area. Within minutes, Israeli forces struck the launcher used in the attack.

Around the same time, sirens were activated in the northern communities of Kfar Yuval and Maayan Baruch. The alerts were initially assessed as a false alarm, but a subsequent review indicated they were likely triggered by the interception of an unmanned aerial vehicle launched from Lebanon before it crossed into Israeli territory.

The incidents followed a series of earlier confrontations in the same sector.

IDF troops from the Golani Brigade, operating under the 36th Division, identified and eliminated several terrorists who had crossed the forward defense line and approached Israeli forces in the al-Qasir area, posing what the military described as an immediate threat. Similar infiltration attempts were recorded the previous night, prompting additional Israeli Air Force strikes.

Later Tuesday evening, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attacks, saying it had targeted an Israeli military position near Kfar Giladi with “a barrage of rockets and a swarm of attack drones.” The group said the strike was carried out in response to what it described as “more than 200 blatant violations” by Israel since the ceasefire came into effect.
