An Israeli reserve officer was seriously wounded overnight after terrorists opened fire on IDF forces operating along the Yellow Line in northern Gaza, the military said, calling the incident a “blatant violation of the ceasefire.”
According to the IDF, the shooting occurred during an operational activity by the Alexandroni Brigade in the northern Gaza Strip.
“During the activity, terrorists fired at IDF forces,” the military said. “As a result of the fire, a reserve officer was seriously injured.” The officer was evacuated to hospital for treatment, and his family was notified.
The IDF said its forces responded immediately. “Following the shooting, tanks fired at the terrorists, and aerial strikes were carried out in the area,” the statement said.
Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry officials claimed Wednesday that 10 people were killed during the ensuing clashes and subsequent IDF strikes.
According to the claims, four deaths were reported in the Tuffah area as a result of the gun battle triggered by the Hamas attack, while three additional fatalities in Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood were attributed to artillery fire. Three more deaths were reported in the Khan Younis area in southern Gaza, also allegedly from artillery fire.
Hamas has repeatedly violated ceasefire agreements throughout the war, with the IDF stressing that the overnight shooting was a direct and serious breach of the ceasefire in effect.
