New revelations have emerged about the daring Mossad operation that led to the assassination of Hezbollah’s former Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah, in September 2024.
The operation was reportedly one of the most complex and high-risk missions ever undertaken by Israeli intelligence.
The mission began with a series of strategic strikes dismantling Hezbollah’s senior command.
In July 2024, Fuad Shukr—Nasrallah’s top military adviser—was killed, followed by other key commanders.
These eliminations weakened Hezbollah’s operational capacity and set the stage for the final strike.
Intelligence from Unit 8200 and Military Intelligence revealed that Nasrallah was scheduled to meet in a secret underground bunker in Beirut’s Haret Hreik neighborhood with Iranian Quds Force commander Gen. Abbas Nilforoushan and Hezbollah’s southern front chief, Ali Karaki.
The bunker’s location was known only to Nasrallah’s closest circle.
According to detailed reports, the Mossad discovered Hassan Nasrallah’s secret bunker location through a combination of high-level intelligence gathering, human infiltration, and advanced surveillance technology.
Under intense Israeli bombardment, Mossad agents infiltrated the area, navigating narrow alleys and planting sophisticated targeting devices in a high-rise building above the bunker.
The agents faced extreme danger—not only from Hezbollah guards but also from Israeli bombs falling nearby.
Their survival odds were estimated at just 50%.
The devices they planted enabled the Israeli Air Force to execute a precision strike using 83 one-ton BLU-109 bunker busters.
These penetrated deep underground, hitting the exact location of the meeting.
The operation’s success was attributed to the unprecedented coordination between Mossad, the IDF, and Israel’s defense tech sector, including Rafael and Elbit.
This mission marks a turning point in covert warfare, showcasing the lethal precision of modern intelligence and the strategic dismantling of Hezbollah’s leadership
