Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has officially disrupted the global electronic warfare market with the introduction of its ELLYON special mission aircraft.
Unveiled by IAI Chairman Boaz Levy at the July 2026 Farnborough Airshow, the ELLYON represents a paradigm shift by merging two historically distinct roles—intelligence gathering and electronic attack—into a single airborne platform.
Powered by advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning algorithms, the aircraft’s multi-mission management system instantaneously processes vast streams of data from integrated onboard sensors.
This AI-driven architecture radically shortens the intelligence loop, allowing operators to map an enemy’s electronic order of battle while simultaneously launching full-spectrum frequency jamming against integrated air defense systems and communications networks from stand-off ranges spanning hundreds of kilometers.
The primary technological edge of ELLYON lies in its comprehensive, all-in-one suite developed by IAI’s ELTA Systems division.
It features a next-generation Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, long-range Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR/GMTI), high-sensitivity signals intelligence (SIGINT) suites, and a multi-spectral electro-optical payload.
Traditional global competitors, such as L3Harris’s EA-37B Compass Call or Boeing’s EA-18G Growler, rely on heavily specialized airframes optimized primarily for singular electronic disruption or tactical jamming missions.
In contrast, ELLYON eliminates the logistical necessity for military forces to field separate, dedicated intelligence-gathering aircraft and jamming fleets.
Furthermore, ELLYON is engineered as a highly cost-effective alternative to its American counterparts.
Rather than building a bespoke, high-maintenance military airframe from scratch, IAI designed the electronic warfare architecture to be entirely platform-agnostic.
It can be seamlessly integrated into several types of existing, highly reliable commercial business jets.
This commercial-off-the-shelf airframe strategy severely undercuts the procurement and lifecycle costs associated with heavy military cargo derivatives.
Available and heavily marketed for sale worldwide, the ELLYON offers international defense ministries a localized, high-tier deterrent that maximizes sovereign defense budgets through a streamlined, multi-role fleet footprint.
If you are interested in buying one, the price is also very competitive . While the most advanced option goes for $140 million, the L3Harris EA-37B Compass Call, which can only do half as much work, can cost over $300 million.
