In the past two years, Iran’s intelligence community has been rocked by revelations of deep Israeli infiltration.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) have arrested over 700 individuals accused of espionage since June 2025, with at least 28 arrests in Tehran alone targeting suspected Mossad assets embedded in sensitive units.

Former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claimed in October 2024 that the head of an Iranian unit tasked with countering Mossad was himself an Israeli agent, along with 20 other moles inside the division.

This stunning admission underscored Mossad’s ability to penetrate even the agencies designed to stop it.

Iranian state media confirmed in August 2025 that eight suspects were arrested for transmitting coordinates of nuclear facilities and details of senior commanders to Mossad during Israel’s air campaign, enabling precision strikes that killed top IRGC officers and destroyed infrastructure.

Israel’s actions demonstrate systematic infiltration.

Targeted assassinations of IRGC commanders inside Iran were enabled by insider intelligence, while sabotage operations against nuclear facilities were coordinated with agents embedded in Iranian logistics networks.

Mossad operatives smuggled assassination equipment into Iran with the help of local collaborators, many of whom were later executed for aiding Israel.

Cyber penetration of Iranian communications further allowed Israel to monitor and disrupt IRGC command structures, leaving Tehran’s leadership uncertain about who could be trusted.

Now the paranoia has reached fever pitch.

On going executions of alleged spies highlight the regime’s desperation, with six in June 2025 alone,

IRGC chief Hossein Salami and Air Force commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh have publicly toured underground bases to reassure troops, even as trust erodes.

For Israel, the infiltration has yielded strategic dividends: crippling Iran’s nuclear program, eliminating senior adversaries, and sowing mistrust within Tehran’s own ranks.

Meanwhile, the Mossad claims that hundreds of IRGC officers are secretly reaching out for help to escape the regime, a revelation that further fueled suspicion inside Iran’s military ranks

For Iran, the cost is devastating — a security apparatus turning inward, consumed by suspicion, and unsure who among them serves the enemy.
