An Israeli F-35I ‘Adir’ jet scored the first-ever air-to-air kill by downing an Iranian Yak-130 over Tehran, marking a historic milestone in modern aerial combat.

The engagement marks the first confirmed air-to-air kill for the fifth-generation fighter since the F-35 entered service with militaries around the world.

It covers an ~185-mile radius, targeting 8–10 GHz X-band frequencies to create an “interference bubble” that jams radars and GPS/satellite signals.

Israel is the only country outside the U.S. allowed to modify and maintain its F-35s independently.

Israel is leading in the real-world integration of laser weapons onto fighter aircraft, with other countries mostly in experimental or development stages.

In addition to its fighter jets, Israel’s fleet of unmanned aerial vehicles achieved what the Defense Ministry described as missions of ‘unprecedented reach.’
