Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Monday killed two Hezbollah terrorists involved in rebuilding the group’s military capabilities, the Israeli military said, describing the strikes as enforcement of the ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon.

In one strike, Ahmad Ali Salami, identified as Hezbollah’s head of artillery, was killed in the area of Yanouh.

According to the IDF, Salami was responsible for advancing numerous artillery and rocket attacks against IDF forces and Israeli territory during the war.

In recent weeks, he had been working to rehabilitate Hezbollah’s artillery capabilities while operating from within civilian areas in Lebanon, in violation of the ceasefire understandings.

The IDF said it is aware of claims that uninvolved civilians were killed in the strike. According to the military, steps were taken in advance to mitigate the risk to civilians, and the incident is under review.

“The IDF regrets any harm to uninvolved civilians and acts to minimize such harm whenever possible,” the statement said.

In a separate strike, Israeli forces also targeted and killed a Hezbollah terrorist in the Ayta ash-Shaab area of southern Lebanon.

The military said the terrorist was involved in gathering intelligence on IDF troop movements and in efforts to rehabilitate Hezbollah’s terrorist infrastructure in the area.

According to the IDF, both terrorists’ activities constituted violations of the ceasefire understandings between Israel and Lebanon.

The military said it will continue to act to prevent Hezbollah from reestablishing military capabilities and to remove threats to Israel’s security.
