Operating under a comprehensive $45 million structural upgrade program managed by the Ministry of Defense’s Directorate of Production and Procurement, the unit has revolutionized its technical capabilities by replacing archaic manual drop techniques with advanced guided parachute platforms.
The reserve battalion utilizes the state-of-the-art “Joint Precision Airdrop System” (JPAS) and the “Shimshon” autonomous cargo extraction rig, allowing operators to accurately drop up to 16 tons of combat materiel from an altitude of 25,000 feet directly into a tightly defined 50-meter landing zone.
This pinpoint accuracy ensures that forces operating in deep, isolated pockets within complex environments remain fully sustained without forcing transport planes to descend into the tracking range of enemy shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles.
During intensive multi-front operations, the reserve battalion successfully managed over 120 tactical resupply flights, pushing more than 2,500 tons of gear to front-line commando formations.
