Israel, Greece, and Cyprus have signed a new trilateral military cooperation work plan for 2026, the IDF Spokesperson announced Sunday evening, strengthening operational coordination among the three eastern Mediterranean partners amid growing regional threats.
The agreements were finalized last week in Cyprus alongside bilateral work plans between the Israel Defense Forces and the Greek and Cypriot armed forces, following the annual joint meeting of the three militaries.
The Israeli delegation was led by Brig. Gen. Amit Adler, head of the IDF’s Tevel Division, who met in Nicosia with senior military counterparts.
According to the IDF, the plans include joint exercises and training, professional working groups across multiple operational fields, and continued strategic military dialogue.
The military cooperation follows a recent trilateral summit in Jerusalem, where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned of escalating threats in the region.
“The Middle East and the eastern Mediterranean are being tested by aggression, terror, and instability,” Netanyahu said, adding that close coordination between Israel, Greece, and Cyprus strengthens resilience and deterrence.
Netanyahu issued a direct warning to Turkey, saying, “Those who hope to expand their empire should forget it. We are committed and capable of defending ourselves, and our cooperation strengthens that ability.”
He also addressed Iran, stating, “We are monitoring the Iranian exercises and making the required preparations. I want to make it clear to Tehran that any action will be met with a very harsh response.”
The trilateral military coordination has taken on added urgency amid deteriorating relations with Turkey, which has imposed a trade embargo on Israel and expanded its military capabilities.
The IDF said the 2026 work plan is intended to enhance readiness, deterrence, and joint operational capabilities across the eastern Mediterranean.
