For the second time since the ceasefire took effect, IDF forces sustained injuries in Gaza on Tuesday when a tank struck an explosive device in the Khan Younis area of the southern Gaza Strip.
Two soldiers suffered light injuries and were evacuated to a hospital for treatment, the army said, adding that their families had been notified.
The blast occurred around 12:30 p.m. as troops worked to secure and clear terrain around their positions.
According to an initial IDF probe, no terrorists were detected in the area at the time of the explosion, indicating the device had likely been planted in advance to target Israeli forces.
Intelligence and engineering teams are now investigating how the explosive was placed and whether Hamas terrorists have been using the ceasefire period to booby-trap areas previously cleared by the IDF.
In response, Israeli forces conducted precision strikes against several terrorist sites in the Khan Younis sector that posed a threat to ground troops.
Despite these provocations, the IDF remains steadfast in its mission to protect its soldiers and ensure that southern Gaza will never again serve as a base for terror.
