The Israel Defense Forces announced that Israeli fighter jets struck multiple military targets belonging to the Houthi regime in Sanaa, deep inside Yemen, on Sunday.

The strikes were carried out with intelligence guidance from the Military Intelligence Directorate.

According to the IDF, the targets included a military compound housing the presidential palace, the Asar and Hizaz power stations, and a fuel storage facility—all of which were being used for the Houthis’ military activities.

The military emphasized that the strikes came in response to repeated Houthi attacks against Israel and its citizens, including the launch of ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles toward Israeli territory.

The IDF said that the presidential palace in Sanaa serves as part of a military compound from which the Houthis direct their operations.

The targeted power stations, Asar and Hizaz, were described as significant electricity infrastructure exploited by the Houthis for military purposes.

“The use of these civilian facilities for military activity is yet another example of the Houthi regime’s exploitation of civilian infrastructure,” the statement read.

The Houthis, backed and financed by Iran, have been conducting attacks against Israel and international shipping routes in the Red Sea and beyond.

Regarding Friday’s missile launch by the Houthis toward Israeli territory, according to an initial investigation by the Israeli Air Force, the missile fired on Friday carried a cluster warhead—the first time the Houthis have used this type of weapon against Israel during the ongoing war.

Israeli military officials stressed that the country’s air defense systems are capable of intercepting such missiles and have successfully done so in the past.

The failure to intercept Friday’s launch is still under review but is not believed to be related to the type of missile used.

“The IDF will act forcefully against repeated Houthi attacks on Israel and is determined to continue striking any threat to the citizens of Israel, regardless of distance,” the military said.
