Israeli Air Force jets blasted Tehran on Tuesday night, destroying a centrifuge production site and other strategic assets, hours after the military issued an evacuation warning to civilians in Iran’s capital city.

More than 50 fighter planes took part in a widespread operation targeting production sites for components needed in uranium enrichment, missile factories, and other weapons facilities.

The strikes destroyed factories used to manufacture critical elements of surface-to-air missiles, which target aircraft, according to Hebrew-language media reports.

Local Iranian media reported that the IAF also targeted Imam Hossein University in eastern Tehran, an educational institution affiliated with the IRGC.

The strikes occurred after the IDF’s Farsi-language spokesman issued a warning to residents of a Tehran neighborhood, notifying them to evacuate the area.

“Dear citizens, for your safety and health, we ask that you immediately leave the designated area in District 18 of Tehran,” the IDF Farsi spokesperson wrote on X.

The warning covered an area near Mehrabad International Airport, where numerous pharmaceutical manufacturing sites, military assets, and industrial companies are located.

Residents of Tehran reported hearing explosions throughout the night, with particularly loud blasts said to have occurred around 5 a.m. on Wednesday.

Overnight Tuesday, Iran targeted Israel with dozens of ballistic missiles.

No injuries were reported following the barrages.

“We must give a strong response to the terrorist Zionist regime,” Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei wrote on social media platform X, shortly after the missile launches in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

“We will show the Zionists no mercy,” he added.

Iran’s attacks on Israel have killed 24 civilians and wounded at least 500 others.

Some 600 families are believed to have been left homeless following Iranian missile attacks on civilian areas that destroyed entire apartment buildings.
