The IDF said Monday it carried out an overnight precision strike in the Baalbek region of eastern Lebanon, killing Wael Mahmoud Abd al-Halim, a commander in the Palestinian Islamic Jihad operating in the Beqaa Valley.

According to the military, Abd al-Halim was involved in coordinating PIJ activity alongside Hezbollah and had recently been working to advance attacks against Israeli forces.

The strike is part of Israel’s ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist operations in Lebanon and prevent threats to troops and civilians.

Over the past day, the IDF reported striking more than 30 Hezbollah-linked sites across southern Lebanon, including weapons depots, observation positions, and facilities used to plan attacks.

The military added that several Hezbollah operatives were also killed in targeted strikes while attempting to carry out or prepare attacks against Israeli forces.

Despite the broader ceasefire framework, the IDF said operations will continue as needed to neutralize immediate threats along the northern front.
