IDF forces operating in southern Gaza eliminated a terrorist near the “yellow line” after he approached troops in a manner that posed an immediate threat, the military said.
The operation was carried out Tuesday by troops from the Gaza Division (143) under Southern Command. According to the IDF, the suspect was identified near the security perimeter and targeted after moving toward an area where Israeli forces were actively operating.
Following intelligence analysis, the IDF and Shin Bet confirmed that the individual killed was Khamis Muhammad Khamis Qatzaz, a Hamas terrorist who infiltrated Kibbutz Nir Oz during the October 7 massacre.
The military said that in recent weeks, Qatzaz had played a central role in directing additional militants toward the “yellow line,” in an effort to carry out attacks against Israeli troops. He was also involved in planning and executing multiple terror operations throughout the war, targeting both IDF forces and Israeli civilians.
The IDF said forces remain deployed in the area in accordance with existing arrangements and will continue to act to remove any immediate threats.
The strike comes amid ongoing efforts by Israeli forces to prevent infiltration attempts and maintain operational control along key security zones in southern Gaza.
