The IDF carried out a targeted strike on Thursday against a Hamas terrorist who was planning to carry out an imminent attack on Israeli forces operating in southern Gaza.

According to the military, the terrorist posed an immediate threat to IDF troops deployed in the area and was struck in order to neutralize the danger.

The IDF said the operation was conducted after intelligence indicated the suspect was actively preparing a terror attack against forces on the ground.

Prior to the strike, the military said multiple measures were taken to reduce the risk of harm to civilians.

These included the use of precision-guided munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence assessments to ensure the strike was narrowly focused on the threat.

In a separate incident earlier in the day, IDF troops from the 7th Brigade combat team operating in southern Gaza identified a terrorist who crossed the Yellow Line and advanced toward Israeli forces in a manner that constituted an immediate danger.

The troops responded swiftly and eliminated the suspect to remove the threat.

The IDF said forces under Southern Command remain deployed in the area in accordance with existing agreements and will continue to act decisively against any immediate threat to Israeli soldiers.

The military stressed that it remains on high alert and will continue operations to protect its forces and prevent terrorist attacks.
