“We will not allow Hamas to rebuild, we control large parts of the Strip and hold the dominant lines. The yellow line is a new border.”

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir visited the Gaza Strip on Sunday for a situation assessment with senior commanders, including the heads of Southern Command, Division 252 and the Carmeli Brigade.
During the visit to Beit Hanoun and Jabaliya, commanders briefed him on recent operational achievements and ongoing efforts to secure control of key areas.
Zamir told the commanders that the IDF remains focused on eliminating threats on every front. “We are working to thwart and remove threats across all fronts,” he said, adding that Israel will respond with full force to any attack on its forces.
He emphasized that the army now holds dominant positions throughout large parts of Gaza. “We will not allow Hamas to rebuild, we control large parts of the Strip and hold the dominant lines. The yellow line is a new border, a forward defensive line for the communities and an offensive line.”
He stressed that the mission regarding the final hostage still held in Gaza is not over. “The overwhelming majority of our hostages have returned but our mission will not be complete until the last abducted soldier, Staff Sgt. Ran Goeili, is brought home,” he said.
Zamir urged commanders to avoid complacency and keep the army ready for any scenario. “We must prepare in every sector and maintain readiness and vigilance. The IDF is preparing for a scenario of a surprise war. This is one of the cornerstones of the coming multi-year plan.”
Zamir also highlighted the central role played by Israel’s reservists throughout the war. “The security and existence of the State of Israel depend on the IDF,” he said. “The reserve force is a central component of that. You have brought unprecedented achievements throughout the war. We are advancing several laws intended to strengthen the IDF and improve its preparedness, which will also ease the burden on the reserve system.”
He noted that the IDF has completed its internal investigations from the recent conflict and said they are critical for preventing future failures. “These investigations are essential for drawing the lessons needed to prevent another 07.10. We must move forward and continue to grow. We are guiding the IDF toward learning, development and strengthening to prepare it for the challenges ahead. You are partners in moving the IDF forward.”
