Israel’s military doctrine under Zamir is shifting toward long-term strategic containment of Iran.

During a multi-front situational assessment yesterday, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said that, “The campaign against Iran is not over.”

His statement signals that Israel views recent military operations as just one phase in a broader strategic effort against the radical Islamic regime.

While a ceasefire with Iran was reached, Zamir emphasized that Israel is entering a new chapter based on recent military’s achievements — the setbacks to Iran’s nuclear and missile programs.

Israel’s war with Iran isn’t truly over yet because the core strategic goals remain unresolved, and the ceasefire is seen as temporary and fragile.

Even if its nuclear facilities are damaged, the know-how to rebuild and weaponize remains intact.

And Iran still posses enriched uranium to 60% purity, which is close to the 90% needed for weapons-grade material.

Zamir stressed that Iran and its regional proxies remain in Israel’s sights, and that 2026 will be a year of readiness and operational opportunity.

The IDF is preparing for simultaneous operations across Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran, citing a “complex and challenging reality”.

This signals that Israel’s military doctrine under Zamir is shifting toward long-term strategic containment of Iran, not just reactive strikes.
