Against the backdrop of escalating tensions with Iran, IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir convened a senior operational commanders’ conference on Monday focused on strengthening preparedness for war across multiple fronts.

The gathering brought together the IDF’s top operational leadership, including corps chiefs and all division commanders, and marked the first such forum in three years, underscoring what the military described as a return to a full training and exercise cycle after an extended period of sustained combat activity.

Zamir said the IDF is in a phase of sharpening its readiness for future conflict and stressed the need to internalize lessons from Oct. 7 while preparing for escalation.

“We are in a period of improving preparedness for war,” he said. “We must strengthen our defensive posture and be ready for a sequence of offensive actions across all theaters.”

He emphasized that the IDF is planning for multiple scenarios simultaneously, including the possibility of a multi-front war.

“We must remain constantly alert and ready for decisive action,” Zamir said, adding that the upcoming multi-year plan will prioritize stronger divisional capabilities in command and control, mobility, and lethality.

Zamir described the conference as part of a broader effort to reinforce the military’s professional foundations.

“We are returning to training, strengthening the basics, and maintaining a high level of readiness on all fronts,” he said, noting that continuous learning and implementation of operational lessons are essential to ensuring the IDF’s preparedness for the challenges ahead.
