IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said Sunday evening that the deadly missile strike in Beit Shemesh, in which nine civilians were killed and many others wounded, highlights both the intensity of Iran’s attacks on Israeli population centers and the reality that no defensive system can provide complete protection.
The missile made a direct impact in a residential neighborhood, causing widespread destruction and collapsing parts of several buildings.
Rescue forces from the Home Front Command, alongside Magen David Adom, fire and rescue services, and volunteer emergency organizations, operated at the scene, searching through debris for survivors and ensuring no victims remained trapped beneath the rubble.
According to officials, emergency crews arrived to find significant structural damage and multiple casualties suffering injuries of varying severity. Medical teams treated the wounded on site before evacuating them to nearby hospitals, while search-and-rescue units worked carefully through unstable structures in an effort to locate additional survivors.

Israeli officials reiterated that Home Front Command guidelines remain critical for civilian safety, stressing that adherence to shelter instructions continues to save lives even during large-scale attacks.
