IDF forces eliminated armed Hamas terrorists in northern Gaza in a series of targeted strikes aimed at removing immediate threats to troops operating in the area, the military said.
According to the IDF, Israeli forces earlier on Tuesday identified a cell of armed Hamas terrorists operating near troops deployed along the “yellow line” security zone in northern Gaza. The group was assessed as posing a direct threat, prompting a coordinated airstrike carried out by the Israeli Air Force in coordination with ground forces.
In a separate incident a day earlier, troops from the 14th Armored Brigade combat team identified five additional terrorists approaching the same security line and operating in close proximity to Israeli forces. The suspects were similarly deemed an immediate threat. Airstrikes were directed against the group, with the IDF reporting that most of the terrorists were killed and additional hits were confirmed.
Separately, the IDF said it carried out a strike in central Gaza targeting a senior Hamas terrorist involved in the October 7 massacre. Anas Mohammed Ibrahim Hamad, identified as a Nukhba force commander who infiltrated Israel and participated in the attack on the Nova music festival, was killed in a precise airstrike after being assessed as an immediate threat to Israeli forces operating in the Gaza Strip.
The military said precautions were taken ahead of the strikes to minimize civilian harm, including the use of precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance.
IDF Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area in accordance with operational directives and will continue operating to neutralize threats as they emerge, the military said.
