Israeli security forces carried out two separate counterterrorism operations this week in Nablus and Jenin, ending long-standing manhunts and highlighting Israel’s commitment to protecting its soldiers and civilians.
Late Monday night, IDF and Shin Bet units conducted a precise raid in eastern Nablus targeting the terrorist responsible for the May 29, 2024, car ramming that killed two Kfir Brigade soldiers, Sgt. Diego Gabriel Hersage and Sgt. Elia Hillel, at the entrance to the city. The forces surrounded the building where he was hiding.
“During the operation on the building where the terrorist was hiding, it became clear that he was barricaded and armed. In response, the forces used precise fire at the target to neutralize the threat,” the IDF said. A drone scan confirmed the terrorist had been killed.
The IDF added that since the attack, it had conducted continuous intelligence operations in coordination with the Shin Bet until the circle was closed. Several accomplices who assisted the terrorist were arrested during the raid. The forces continue to act broadly to prevent attacks against civilians and security personnel.
On Tuesday morning, a second operation was carried out south of Jenin in the Menashe Brigade area, where IDF and Shin Bet forces eliminated Sultan al-Ghani. He had carried out the August 18, 2024, attack in the Brown Industrial Zone, during which he assaulted and killed Gideon Peri with a hammer, seized his firearm and vehicle, and fled.
“During the operation, IDF units and Shin Bet arrested five accomplices who had assisted the terrorist. The forces then surrounded the building where he was hiding. After an exchange of fire, the terrorist was eliminated. Searches of the building uncovered a Carlo submachine gun, an M16 rifle, an explosive device, and magazines with ammunition,” the IDF said.
These operations demonstrate Israel’s unwavering commitment to removing terrorist threats and ensuring the safety of its soldiers and citizens across all regions.
