Israeli actor and singer Idan Amedi, known for his starring role in the action series Fauda, has strongly defended the IDF against attacks by local celebrities – saying, “the IDF is the most moral army in world.”
The remarks were made during a strong condemnation of a recent anti-IDF petition signed by hundreds of Israeli artists that accused Israel of purposely “starving Gaza civilians”.
Amedi, who was seriously wounded while serving as a reservist in the IDF’s Combat Engineering Corps lasts year, responded to the petition with sharp criticism:
“Every home in Gaza is filled with antisemitic, anti-Jewish propaganda. From images of ‘martyrs’ to stickers saying, ‘With blood and fire we will reach Jerusalem. A group of privileged people echoing stupidity, ignorance, and lies.
No other army in the world operates in such a densely populated area with such a low civilian casualty rate. This is proven — go check.”
The petition, titled “Statement from the Cultural Community: Stop the Horror in Gaza,” was signed by hundreds of leftwing Israeli celebrities including Chava Alberstein, Gidi Gov, and Assaf Amdursky. It accuses Israel of starving Gazans and calls for an end to what it describes as “war crimes”.
Idan Amedi added:
“On the day we see our brothers in 2025 as skeletal figures underground digging their own graves — go down into a tunnel. Fight for a day like tens of thousands of reservists, and only then sign petitions. … We’ve had enough of you.”
Israeli media and celebrities are coming under increasing criticism for echoing Hamas propaganda points.
Amedi’s words also reflect the emotional intensity and frustration felt by many IDF reservists who’ve served on the front lines.
In an incredible case of life imitating art, Amedi was seriously injured while serving as a reservist in the IDF’s Combat Engineering Corps in Gaza on January 8, 2024.
He was wounded in an explosion that killed six soldiers and injured several others.
He suffered shrapnel injuries to his neck and spine, along with severe burns and broken bones, especially on his face and fingers.
Sedated and intubated in intensive care at Sheba Medical Center.
Despite his severe injuries—including burns, shrapnel wounds, and broken bones—he recovered and returned to public life by mid-2024
