The Israeli army issued an evacuation order for the entirety of Gaza City on Tuesday morning, warning civilians that remaining in the area would pose an immediate threat to their lives.
“The IDF is determined to defeat Hamas and will operate in the Gaza City area with great force, just as it has throughout the Strip,” said Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson, in a post on the social media platform X.
Adraee emphasized that Gazans who choose not to evacuate are making an “extremely dangerous” decision.
Acknowledging Hamas’ practice of forcing civilians to act as human shields by preventing them from leaving areas targeted by the Israeli army, Adraee shared the phone number of an IDF hotline.

“The Israeli military is determined to eliminate Hamas and will operate in the Gaza City area with great force, as it has operated in various parts of the Strip,” Adraee stressed.
Recapping Monday’s operations in Gaza City, Defense Minister Israel Katz highlighted the scope of the IDF’s strikes across the city.
“An unprecedented hurricane hit Gaza yesterday,” Katz wrote on X. “Thirty multi-story terror buildings were attacked and destroyed, and dozens more terror targets were bombed and demolished, to thwart infrastructure for observation and terror, and pave the way for ground forces.”
Katz included a video in his post showing a high-rise building in Gaza’s once-glamorous Rimal neighborhood collapsing into a cloud of smoke and rubble following an Israeli airstrike.
“If Hamas terrorists do not lay down their arms and free all the hostages, they will be destroyed and Gaza will be razed,” Katz warned.
