During a mission in southern Lebanon, 20-year-old Sergeant Gur Kehati of Nir Banim, serving in the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion, was killed in action alongside 71-year-old Ze’ev (Zabo) Hanoch Ehrlich, a seasoned researcher and former IDF reserve Major.

The two were surveying an ancient fortress near a mosque perched on a high ridge—an area of strategic and historical significance. Ehrlich, who had extensive knowledge of the terrain, was offering critical support to the brigade in the region. As they explored the site, Hezbollah operatives emerged from hiding within the fortress and launched a sudden attack. In the firefight that followed, both Kehati and Ehrlich lost their lives.
