In the aftermath of the October 7, 2023 Hamas assault on southern Israel, which killed an estimated 1,200 people and saw more than 240 hostages taken into Gaza, Israeli intelligence agencies have assembled what officials describe as the most detailed roster ever created of perpetrators involved in a single terrorist attack.

Israeli and international authorities classify Hamas as a terrorist organization responsible for mass civilian casualties and systematic human‑rights violations.

The list, compiled jointly by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), Aman Military Intelligence, and the IDF Southern Command, reportedly includes more than 2,000 named operatives from Hamas’s Nukhba force, the Izz ad‑Din al‑Qassam Brigades, and allied factions such as Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Israeli leaders, including Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, have vowed that every identified participant will be “captured or eliminated,” invoking the precedent of the post‑Munich 1972 manhunt conducted by Mossad under Operation Wrath of God.

Israeli forces have already killed more than 1,000 of the terrorists who crossed into Israel on October 7, many during the initial battles in communities such as Kfar Aza, Be’eri, and Nir Oz, and others during subsequent operations in Gaza.

Israeli officials also report that dozens of attackers have been captured alive, interrogated, and added to the expanding intelligence database.

The list itself is built from CCTV footage, intercepted communications, recovered body‑cam recordings, geolocation metadata, and forensic evidence collected by Lahav 433 investigators.

Analysts from Unit 8200 have used AI‑assisted facial‑recognition tools to match individuals seen in footage with years of intelligence files on Hamas battalions in Gaza City, Khan Yunis, and Rafah.

Senior Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have stated that the pursuit will continue “for years if necessary,” describing it as both a moral obligation and a strategic imperative.

Intelligence officers say the database is updated daily as new identities are confirmed through interrogations, battlefield intelligence, and cooperation with allied agencies in the United States and Europe.

The result is a long‑term, methodical campaign aimed at ensuring that every individual responsible for the atrocities of October 7 is ultimately held accountable, whether through capture, prosecution, or targeted military action.
