While much of the region’s attention remains focused on the war with Iran and escalating tensions along Israel’s northern border with Hezbollah, Israeli forces continue to operate against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces struck a rocket launch site and launcher in the Sabra area of Gaza City that had been used by Hamas to fire rockets toward Israeli territory. The military said the site’s reactivation constituted a violation of the existing ceasefire agreement.

The IDF said forces under Southern Command remain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue working to prevent Hamas and other terrorist organizations from rebuilding their military capabilities in Gaza.

“IDF forces in Southern Command remain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue operating to thwart attempts by terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip to rearm and to remove any threat to the State of Israel and its citizens,” the military said.

Earlier in the day, Israeli forces also carried out operations in eastern Rafah, where troops from the Golani Brigade combat team located and cleared a Hamas underground infrastructure site.

During searches of the tunnel route on Monday, troops confirmed that three terrorists were eliminated during the operation, according to the IDF.

Golani forces are continuing to conduct sweeps in the Rafah area to dismantle remaining underground terror infrastructure and neutralize militants operating within the network of tunnels.

The IDF said forces will remain deployed in the sector in accordance with the ceasefire arrangements while continuing to act against any immediate threats emerging from Hamas’ underground infrastructure.
