The IDF on Monday cleared for publication the name of a second soldier killed during combat operations in southern Lebanon.
He was identified as Staff Sgt. Or Damari, 20, from Liman, a heavy engineering equipment operator in the 91st Division of the Combat Engineering Corps.
Damari was killed in the same incident in which Sgt. First Class Maher Khatar, 38, from Majdal Shams, was killed during fighting against Hezbollah forces along the northern front.
The military announced Sunday that two soldiers had fallen in the incident, as Israeli forces continue operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed condolences to the family, saying he and his wife “send our heartfelt condolences to the family of Staff Sgt. Or Damari, of blessed memory, a combat engineering soldier who fell in battle in southern Lebanon.”
Netanyahu noted that Damari was killed in the same incident as Khatar, describing them as “two heroes who went out to fight in defense of our country against the Hezbollah terrorist organization.”
“Together with all the people of Israel, we embrace Or’s family in this difficult hour,” the prime minister said. “May his memory be a blessing.”
