IDF forces operating in southern Gaza uncovered a weapons cache hidden inside an underground shaft during ongoing operations to dismantle terror infrastructure and secure areas near the Yellow Line, the military said.

According to the IDF, troops from the 188th Armored Brigade combat team, together with forces from the elite Yahalom engineering unit, located the shaft while conducting clearing activity in the sector.

Inside, the forces found dozens of weapons believed to have been used by terror groups in the Gaza Strip, including Kalashnikov rifles, RPG anti-tank launchers, and ammunition magazines.

The IDF said the discovery is part of continued efforts to destroy terrorist infrastructure, prevent attacks on Israeli forces, and remove threats facing nearby Israeli communities.

Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement, the military added, and will continue operating to eliminate any immediate danger.
