On Monday, IDF surveillance units, in coordination with the aerial control division, intercepted a drone attempting to infiltrate Israeli territory from the west carrying three M16 rifles.
Paran Brigade troops responded swiftly, neutralizing the drone and transferring the seized weapons to security authorities for processing.
This incident comes amid a series of similar attempts in recent days along Israel’s borders. Last week, Yoav Brigade forces, guided by IDF observation teams, intercepted a drone transporting ten pistols, preventing the weapons from reaching terrorist operatives.

Officials say these events reflect a growing trend of drones being used to smuggle weapons, posing an increasingly sophisticated threat to national security.
In response, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir convened a high-level meeting Wednesday with senior operational leaders, the Southern Command chief, and representatives from Shin Bet and the Israel Police. The session focused on creating a comprehensive strategy to counter the drone threat along the border.
Zamir highlighted the serious security implications of drone-based smuggling, noting that these devices carry potential lethal consequences. He emphasized the IDF and its security partners are committed to expanding operational capabilities and ensuring constant coordination through a permanent joint-action mechanism between the IDF, police, and Shin Bet.
