The toll of IDF troops killed in the Iron Swords war rose to 853 on Sunday, following the announcement of the deaths of two more service personnel, killed when they entered a booby-trapped Gaza tunnel.

The soldiers were identified as Capt. Noam Ravid, 23, from Sha’arei Tikva, and Staff Sgt. Yaly Seror, 20, from Omer. Both served in the IDF Combat Engineering Corps’ elite Yahalom unit.

Early reports from an IDF investigation suggest the two were inspecting the entrance to a building located in Rafah, when the explosion killed them. Neither of the names of the wounded soldiers has been released, although it is known that one of them is in a critical condition, while the other was moderately injured.

On Saturday, a reservist with the Jerusalem Brigade’s 7007th Battalion was seriously wounded in northern Gaza. However, the military said the circumstances of his wounds are still under investigation.

These latest additions to KIA and wounded lists come as the government prepares to expand its operations and extend further Israel’s lengthiest ever war. On Saturday night, the military said it was sending out tens of thousands of call-up orders to reservists, most of whom have already answered the call to serve multiple times since the start of the hostilities.
