The IDF said it carried out airstrikes earlier Thursday on underground shafts used for weapons storage at several Hezbollah military sites across Lebanon.
Secondary explosions were identified following the strikes, confirming that weapons were stored at the targeted locations.
The IDF said intelligence gathered in recent months indicated ongoing activity by Hezbollah terrorists at the sites, including efforts related to the storage and handling of weapons.
The military emphasized that the activity constituted a clear violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon, under which Hezbollah is barred from maintaining military infrastructure in those areas.
The IDF said the strikes were conducted to remove an immediate threat and prevent further buildup of Hezbollah’s military capabilities.
“The IDF will continue to operate wherever necessary to eliminate any threat to the State of Israel,” the statement said, adding that Israel remains prepared to act against further violations.
