An Israeli soldier has been killed in southern Gaza, marking the second combat fatality in the ongoing Operation “Gideon’s Chariots.”

The IDF announced that Staff Sergeant Danilo Mocanu, 20, from Holon, serving in the 7th Armored Brigade’s 82nd Battalion, was killed when a Hamas explosive device detonated.

This caused the collapse of the building where his unit was operating. Another soldier was lightly wounded in the incident.

This incident follows the death of Sergeant Yosef Yehuda Chirak, 22, a combat engineer from Harasha, who was killed by friendly fire during a mission to investigate and destroy a tunnel shaft in northern Gaza.

May their families know no more sorrow.
