A joint IDF and Shin Bet operation in Gaza City neutralized As’ad Abu Sharia, the head of the Mujahideen Brigades, a terrorist group responsible for the horrific massacre at Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, 2023.

Abu Sharia directly orchestrated the abduction and murder of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas, as well as Gadi Haggai, Judi Weinstein, and Thai worker Pinta Nattapong, alongside another foreign national whose body remains in terrorist custody.

His group, exploiting Hamas’s attack plans, also recruited operatives in Judea and Samaria to carry out additional terror attacks against Israel.

In a separate strike, the IDF and Shin Bet eliminated Mahmoud Muhammad Hamed Khalil, another Mujahideen Brigades member who participated in holding the Bibas family captive during the war.

The Bibas family, grappling with their immense loss, found some solace in the operation’s success.

“The news of the elimination of the organization’s leader is another step in closing the circle and processing the immense loss of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir,” they stated.

“They will not return, but there is slight comfort in knowing these despicable murderers will not harm another family. We thank the IDF soldiers and security forces for their bravery and dedication, risking their lives for our safety.”

The Mujahideen Brigades played a significant role in the October 7 atrocities, abducting and killing civilians without prior coordination with Hamas, capitalizing on the chaos to advance their terror agenda.

Abu Sharia’s elimination disrupts a network that continued plotting attacks and fighting IDF forces in Gaza.

Earlier this week, IDF units, including Golani scouts and elite Yahalom fighters, raided Gaza’s European Hospital, a known Hamas command hub, uncovering underground terror infrastructure and neutralizing additional threats.

Israel remains committed to dismantling terror networks, with the IDF and Shin Bet vowing to “continue operating with determination to locate and eliminate all terrorists involved in the October 7 massacre and the holding of Israeli hostages.”

The operation reflects Israel’s relentless pursuit of justice for the 1,195 victims of the attack and the 55 hostages still in captivity.
