IDF forces from the Gaza Division (143) continued their ongoing operations overnight in eastern Rafah, where troops identified four terrorists emerging from a subterranean tunnel route. Guided by the Israeli Air Force, the forces immediately engaged and eliminated all four.
In its statement, the IDF said that “four terrorists were identified as they exited an underground route in the area, and the forces, with direction from the Air Force, eliminated them.” The military added that Southern Command forces “remain deployed in accordance with the security framework and will continue to act to remove any immediate threat.”
The encounter forms part of a wider, concentrated campaign in eastern Rafah over the past 40 days aimed at dismantling Hamas’ underground infrastructure and neutralizing the terrorists operating from within it. Throughout this period, IDF units have been systematically exposing tunnel routes, destroying shafts, and striking terrorist hideouts.
According to operational data released by the IDF, more than 40 terrorists have been eliminated along the tunnel route just in the past week. Dozens of tunnel shafts and additional pieces of terrorist infrastructure have also been located and dismantled.
Israeli forces remain positioned throughout the area as engineers, infantry, and air support continue coordinated efforts to dismantle the underground network and prevent terrorists from emerging to launch attacks.
