IDF forces operating in eastern Rafah continued their intensive counterterrorism efforts on Wednesday, striking terrorists emerging from underground tunnel networks and clearing buildings in follow-up raids.

Earlier in the day, reconnaissance teams from the Nahal Brigade identified six armed terrorists as they surfaced from a subterranean tunnel system. Israeli forces immediately coordinated an airstrike as the terrorists attempted to flee. Four were killed in the strike, and two others surrendered and were taken into custody. IDF units are continuing thorough sweeps of the area to ensure all threats are neutralized.

Following the aerial strike, Nahal Brigade combat teams moved swiftly into one of the targeted structures to conduct a close-quarters search. Inside, troops located one terrorist killed in the airstrike and three additional armed terrorists. The fighters engaged them at close range and eliminated all three. Two more terrorists hiding in the building were arrested.

These operations come on the heels of similar activity on Tuesday, when Nahal forces identified and eliminated five armed terrorists attempting to escape the same underground network.

The Southern Command reported that over the past week alone, more than 20 terrorists have been killed and eight others captured while trying to flee from Rafah’s extensive tunnel infrastructure. IDF forces remain fully deployed across the sector under the framework of the ceasefire agreement, maintaining constant readiness to remove any immediate threat.

The continued successes in Rafah underscore Israel’s determination to dismantle terror networks, deny militants freedom of movement, and protect both its soldiers and civilians from attacks originating in the underground system.
