Prime Minister Netanyahu reportedly told ministers that Israel had received a green light from President Trump to carry out military action in Lebanon if necessary.

The Israel Defense Forces said it carried out an airstrike earlier Tuesday in the area of Jouai in southern Lebanon, killing a terrorist from Hezbollah’s aerial unit, known as Unit 127.
According to the IDF, the terrorist was involved in efforts to rehabilitate and rebuild Hezbollah’s military infrastructure in the area. The strike marked the second elimination of a Hezbollah aerial unit operative in the past two days.
The military said the activity constituted a “blatant violation” of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon, adding that it will “continue to act to remove any threat and defend the State of Israel.”
The strike came amid heightened tensions along the northern border. On Monday, the IDF carried out additional airstrikes in southern Lebanon after issuing evacuation warnings to residents of several villages, alerting them that Hezbollah infrastructure would be targeted.
Those strikes followed a series of targeted operations, including a strike on Sunday in the Jmeijmeh area that eliminated two Hezbollah terrorists, according to the military.
The latest developments come against the backdrop of political commitments made by Beirut that have gone unfulfilled. In September, the Lebanese government approved a plan calling for the disarmament of Hezbollah by the end of 2025.
That deadline has now passed, yet Hezbollah remains armed and operational, with no meaningful steps taken to dismantle its military capabilities.
Despite continued IDF activity along the border, Israel has, under understandings with Lebanon, allowed the Lebanese Armed Forces to operate against Hezbollah south of the Litani River, and has on several occasions reportedly canceled planned strikes on Hezbollah targets at the request of the Lebanese army. Those measures, however, have failed to bring about Hezbollah’s disarmament.
At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly told ministers that Israel had received a green light from U.S. President Donald Trump to carry out military action in Lebanon if necessary.
Meanwhile, reports indicate Hezbollah is bracing for such a scenario. As part of its preparations, the terror group has reportedly moved heavy and long-range weapons north of the Litani River and significantly reduced its presence south of the river, signaling concern over a potential large-scale Israeli operation.
