In recent weeks, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has launched aggressive missile and drone salvos across the Middle East, deliberately striking nearly all its regional adversaries.
Iranian operations hit U.S. and local installations in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, alongside commercial shipping corridors. Conspicuously, Tehran has avoided direct, unprovoked escalations against Israel during this specific wave.
This selective restraint stems from a calculating assessment: Iran recognizes that Israel poses a unique, existential threat that far exceeds the danger presented by traditional American military power.
The strategic fear Tehran holds toward Jerusalem vastly eclipses its anxiety regarding Washington, rooted in fundamental operational contrasts.
While the United States wields a vastly superior volume of raw explosive tonnage, American foreign policy and intelligence institutions historically maintain a dogmatic aversion to direct political assassinations.
Conversely, Israeli agencies like the Mossad have repeatedly proven both the systemic capability and the precise intent to penetrate deep inside Iranian territory to eliminate high-value targets.
During intense periods of regional warfare, Israeli decapitation strikes orchestrated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and intelligence officials have eliminated multiple high-level military commanders and nuclear scientists.
Utilizing advanced artificial intelligence targeting platforms and highly localized human intelligence (HUMINT) networks, Israeli intelligence has repeatedly adjusted strikes mid-flight based on real-time movements, successfully penetrating highly sensitive facilities linked to the SPND (Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research) and core IRGC headquarters.
Washington consistently prefers traditional deterrence, economic restrictions, and defensive shields, actively avoiding targeting regime survival elements directly.
Israel, by contrast, views the clerical regime’s inner circle, its top command, and its core governance infrastructure as legitimate, actionable objectives.
Because Iran’s ruling hierarchy under supreme leadership remains entirely willing to impose unlimited economic and human hardships on its own populace, conventional U.S. economic sanctions and infrastructure-sparing bombing campaigns fail to induce behavioral change.
Furthermore, Israel maintains a willingness to target critical energy and state infrastructure that the United States is still not prepared to touch.
Combined with an intimate, hyper-accurate knowledge of Iran’s most sensitive domestic installations, Israel’s tactical precision is far more deadly to the survival of the regime.
This willingness to cross traditional Western red lines creates a profound, visceral vulnerability in Tehran that American conventional military dominance simply does not replicate.
