The Israel Defense Forces announced Sunday evening that it destroyed a key crossing over the Litani River in southern Lebanon used by Hezbollah operatives to move between northern and southern areas of the river.

According to the IDF, the crossing was used by Hezbollah terrorists and commanders to transport weapons, rockets, and launchers into the area south of the Litani River, from where attacks have been carried out against Israeli civilians and IDF forces.

The military said the crossing was targeted in order to disrupt Hezbollah’s logistics and prevent attacks against both Israeli civilians and Lebanese civilians caught in the fighting.

The strike was part of a broader wave of Israeli airstrikes in the Nabatieh area of southern Lebanon, where the IDF said approximately 15 Hezbollah command centers were targeted.

The military said operations against Hezbollah infrastructure will continue, stating that Hezbollah chose to join the war under the backing of the Iranian regime and that Israel will not allow attacks against its civilians.

Earlier Sunday, Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel had ordered the destruction of all bridges over the Litani River used for Hezbollah activity in order to prevent the movement of fighters and weapons southward.

Katz also said Israel would accelerate the destruction of buildings in frontline Lebanese villages used to threaten Israeli communities, referencing the model used in Beit Hanoun and Rafah in Gaza to remove threats near the border.

By Monday morning, Arab media reported that the Israeli Air Force had also destroyed the Al-Qaqaiyah bridge over the Litani River in southern Lebanon, part of what appears to be a broader Israeli effort to cut Hezbollah supply routes and isolate its forces in southern Lebanon.

The strikes signal an expanding Israeli effort to reshape the battlefield in southern Lebanon by cutting Hezbollah’s movement routes, destroying command infrastructure, and pushing the threat further away from Israel’s northern communities.
